“Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science (SAKURA Exchange Program in Science)”


From October 18 to 27, the “Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science (SAKURA Exchange Program in Science)” was successfully implemented by RESTEC.

It is a program promoted by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) to enhance exchanges between Asia and Japan of the youths who will play a crucial role in the field of science and technology in the future.

RESTEC provided a course program consists of lectures, practices, and facility tours regarding mainly remote sensing technology in collaboration with School of Science and Engineering, Tokyo Denki University. All participants also experienced Japanese traditional culture, Japanese Tea Ceremony (Sa-Do) and making traditional Japanese hand-crafted paper (Wa-Shi), arranged by RESTEC.

15 participants from 10 different countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Brunei Darussalam, Philippines, Singapore, Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Taiwan joined the program.

Mr. Komine, the Mayor of Hatoyama Town, kindly visited the trainees to meet with them while they were staying in town to attend the remote sensing lectures.

This is the third time RESTEC has received financial support through the SAKURA Exchange Program in Science.
