RESTEC Supports JAXA’s SAR Training in Vietnam
On February 23 to 25, 2016, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) held a training course on SAR data application for flood mapping. RESTEC arranged the course and dispatched 2 lecturers to Vietnam.
The training course was co-hosted by the Space Technology Institute (STI) under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST). It was the 3rd time JAXA hosted a training course on SAR data application for Vietnam in collaboration with STI.
19 trainees from STI and other ministries and agencies in Vietnam participated in and completed the 3 days of training. The lecturers explained the basic information for the SAR data and focused on the methodology to detect flooded areas, which can be applied to other purposes such as detecting areas undergoing deforestation. JAXA provided ALOS-2 data free of charge for this training course.
