1. Botswanan Trainees Learn about SAR Data for Forest Monitoring

RESTEC welcomed three trainees from Botswana for three days from
December 15 to 17, 2015. They learned about basic knowledge and
techniques to handle the data obtained by Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR)
for forest management ………

2. RESTEC Organizes One Day Training for JAXA's Mini-Project

RESTEC organized one day JAXA training course for trainees from Myanmar
on 20 January, 2016. They learned about basic knowledge and techniques
to handle the data obtained by Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) for
forest monitoring. Since the course was held at back-to-back event with
JAXA Mini-Project ……..

3. JICA Uses AW3D for Post Disaster Survey in Sri Lanka

The Japan International Coorperation Agency (JICA) used the ALOS World
3D Topographic data (AW3D) for post disaster survey in Sri Lanka. AW3D
is high accurate Digital Elevation Model (DEM) produced from the data
obtained by the Advanced Land Observing Satellite-1 (ALOS-1).

4. JAXA Releases Global Forest/Non-Forest Map Free of Charge

On January 28 2016, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)
released global forest/non-forest map which was developed from ALOS-2
data. The dataset can be download from JAXA’s website free of charge.
